Those who stand in front of the jeans shelf are spoiled for choice: mom, boyfriend and slouchy models are more in demand than ever. But what is what?

For years, skinny jeans were considered to be the trouser trend. In recent years, however, narrow-cut trousers have increasingly been replaced by models that offer wearers more comfort. The focus was on wide cuts, the boyfriend, mom and slouchy look are becoming increasingly popular among denim fans. But what is the difference?

Boyfriend jeans: low waist, wide legs

Boyfriend jeans are denim models with wide legs, a low waist and mostly rolled up hem. The pants should give the impression that they come from the partner's closet and are a little too big. Hence the loose and comfortable fit. The look is particularly suitable for women with long legs who do not completely drown in pants. In order to shake off the leisure flair of the casual style, the combination with a tailored blazer and high-heeled shoes is recommended.

Mom jeans: high waist, tapered leg

Mom jeans have their origins in the eighties and nineties, when they were considered the pants favorite of many mothers. They also have a rather loose fit, but differ from boyfriend jeans in two main features: The waistband of the mom jeans is higher in the waist, and the wide legs come together narrowly at the ankles. The high waistband makes styling the pants easy. Almost all tops that can be tucked into the front, even thick sweaters, are suitable for the combination. Sneakers, boots or high heels complete the look.

Slouchy jeans: high waist, narrow legs, accentuated buttocks

The slouchy jeans are very similar to a mom model. She also has wide trouser legs that narrow towards the ankles. What makes the difference, however, is that the waist and buttocks are emphasized significantly more by the body-hugging cut. If you want to top it all off, complement the look with a waist belt. Crop tops or tops that can be tucked into the waistband of the trousers harmonize ideally. The outfit is completed with sneakers, sandals or heel shoes.
