Amazon is getting a new boss: Jeff Bezos will step down from his post later this year. His successor has already been found.

Jeff Bezos (57) will soon no longer be the boss of Amazon. As the company announced on Tuesday, the second richest person in the world will step down as CEO later this year. His successor has already been determined: Amazon top manager Andy Jassy is expected to take over the post in the third quarter of 2021. Bezos is quoted as saying: "This is the optimal time for a handover."

According to media reports, this should not be a complete withdrawal from the company. It is expected that Bezos, as executive chairman of the board of directors, will continue to have a major influence on Amazon's business beyond his resignation. He founded Amazon in 1994 as an online bookstore, laying the foundation for today's global market leader in the e-commerce business.
