The country star and actor and the “Friends” actress had two projects together. In the 2009 comedy “He’s Just Not That Into You” he played her father. Perhaps more importantly, Kristoffersen, who died on Saturday at the age of 88, was even part of Aniston’s first directing project.

“I was lucky enough to direct my first short film and he surprisingly said yes when we asked him. He and Robin Wright. And that was one of the most beautiful experiences I’ve ever had,” Aniston said in the late night show. His acceptance could also have had something to do with the fact that he and his wife were apparently big “Friends” fans. When Aniston asked the actor for her film, the couple had just finished watching her show “Friends,” his wife revealed.

Aniston’s short film was about an older man, played by Kristofferson, who says goodbye to his dying wife in the hospital. “He broke our hearts,” says Aniston, describing his performance on set. “He was extraordinary. Really.”
