Jens Riewa: After Jan Hofer, he will be the new "Tagesschau" head spokesman

Jens Riewa becomes the new "Mr. Tagesschau". The 57-year-old succeeds Jan Hofer as chief spokesman, who will retire at the end of the year.

The successor for Jan Hofer alias "Mr. Tagesschau", who will retire at the end of the year at the age of 70, has been found. Jens Riewa (57) will be the new chief spokesman for the news program, as ARD announced. Riewa is "a very experienced and professional speaker who will also make a significant contribution in his new role to ensure that the 'Tagesschau' remains Germany's number 1 news brand", NDR director Joachim Knuth is certain.

At the same time, Knuth thanked the outgoing "Tagesschau" head spokesman once again. Jan Hofer "has been the face and voice for serious news in Germany for decades. We owe him a lot." After Karl-Heinz Köpcke, Werner Veigel, Dagmar Berghoff, Jo Brauner and Hofer, Riewa will act as the sixth chief spokesman for the program.

Riewa has been working for the "Tagesschau" since 1991, initially as an off speaker and since 1994 as an on speaker, i.e. in front of the camera. Apart from the news world, he has also moderated the "Deutsche Schlagerparade".

The "Tagesschau" team is growing with Julia-Niharika Sen (53) and Constantin Schreiber (41). Sen has been running the "Hamburg Journal" since 2010 and the "ARD Nachtmagazin" since 2018. Schreiber has been with the latter since 2017.
