Jerome Boateng is calling for a job at Real Madrid – as a replacement for Alaba and Militao

He wants to be Alaba’s replacement
Boateng calls for job at Real Madrid

Jérôme Boateng is without a club and cannot play football at the moment, but would like to do so again. And not just anywhere, but right at the top. According to a report, because Real Madrid is currently having major injury concerns, the 35-year-old simply picks up the phone and calls the president.

According to a report, former international soccer player Jérôme Boateng has been discussed at Real Madrid as a replacement for the injured David Alaba. The former Bayern professional called Real President Florentino Pérez and offered his services, reported the Catalan online newspaper “El Nacional”. The 35-year-old former world champion is currently without a club after his contract with French first division club Olympique Lyon expired. Apparently he would play for a mini-salary in order to be able to show his skills again at the highest level.

Spain’s record champions currently have major injury concerns. With Éder Militão, a central defender will be missing for a longer period after a cruciate ligament tear. The Austrian Alaba was substituted in the last Real game due to problems in the adductor area – the exact diagnosis is still pending.

Boateng knows Real coach Carlo Ancelotti from their time together at FC Bayern – but the Italian didn’t always rely on him. Boateng had even thought about a change at the time, but the then 29-year-old was back as head of defense at Bayern after Jupp Heynckes returned.

Another coach courted Boateng after Heynckes’ time in Munich. The current Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel, at the time coach of Paris Saint-Germain. “There were talks with Paris, that’s no secret,” the 2014 world champion said at the time: “The task there was interesting, the talks with Thomas Tuchel were good.” However, that was already two years ago. He was last on the pitch for Bayern’s legendary game against Borussia Dortmund at the end of July.

The central defender’s commitment to a big club seems unlikely; at 35 years old, the prospect of a glorious future is slim. In addition, his private life may be one reason why clubs have refrained from signing him in the recent past. Because the legal dispute over alleged bodily harm and insults at the expense of his former partner is not over. The Bavarian Supreme Court had overturned his conviction – but the taking of evidence had to start again.
