Jessica Chastain shows a lot of bare skin in “Scenes from a Marriage”. But it had a special condition.
Both Oscar Isaac (42) and Jessica Chastain (44) show a lot of bare skin in the new HBO miniseries “Scenes from a Marriage”. The actress tells in the US show “The View”that she had one condition on Hagai Levi (58), who wrote and directed the miniseries.
From the start Chastain said to Levi, “I’m comfortable with all the nudity, but with every part of my body that you show, you have to show the same with Oscar.” In the second episode there is a shower scene “and you can see my body – and now you can also see your body”. The actress wanted to show a certain “balance”.
“I was surprised”
Isaac can also be seen completely naked in the miniseries. When asked whether he had ever regretted his decision to show himself this way, Isaac explains that he only found out about it afterwards. “I was surprised because I didn’t know that was going to happen,” explains the actor.
Although he saw the material before it was published, he looked at it on a laptop with a rather dark screen: “I didn’t notice what was going on down there.” When it was first discussed, he was surprised and wondered what people were talking about. Then he saw the whole thing again on the big TV.
“Scenes from a Marriage” is all about the relationship between Mira (Chastain) and Jonathan (Isaac), who have been married for twelve years. The miniseries is a new version of Ingmar Bergman’s (1918-2007) classic “Scenes from a Marriage”.
