“Harry Potter” actress Jessie Cave had “unpleasant experiences” on set after she put on weight.

The “Harry Potter” actress Jessie Cave (34) had an “unpleasant experience” on the set, as she said in an interview with “The Independent”. Cave, who played Lavender Brown in the last three films in the series, revealed she was treated differently after she gained weight.

She said she had “put on a lot of weight” after being in front of the camera for “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” (2009). She did not want to “starve”, said the 34-year-old. “And I grew up and that’s what happened.”

The actress continued: When she returned to the set to shoot “The Deathly Hallows Parts 1 and 2” (2010, 2011), “I was treated like a different species. It was terrible”. That was probably also due to her and her insecurity about “knowing that I no longer fit into the old jeans”. In the previous film she was still wearing size 36, after that she was 40. “That was terrible. It was a really uncomfortable experience.”

She felt “invisible”

Cave said that she “definitely felt invisible” after gaining weight, despite her success after filming her first “Harry Potter” movie. Since then she has had major problems “with weight and work”. It’s bad, “but it’s just like that. Women have to deal with it all the time,” said Cave.

After “Harry Potter”, the artist concentrated on comedy and writing in addition to acting. The mother of three also has a podcast. And is happy with her career path: “If I had stayed thin – unnaturally thin, unhappily thin – I would probably have gotten more acting roles and then I would not have started writing,” she told The Independent. “I’m almost grateful that I gained so much.”
