Jesy Nelson has given her fans the sad news on Instagram that she will be leaving the girl band Little Mix.

Jesy Nelson (29) announced her departure from the British girl band Little Mix ("Glory Days") with a statement on Instagram. Nelson explains at the beginning that she has had "the most wonderful time of her life" in the past nine years. "The truth is, being in the band has really strained my mental health. I find the constant pressure to be in a girl band and to meet the expectations very difficult," she explained to her 7.4 million followers on Instagram .

She now wants to spend time with her loved ones and do things that make them happy. She is ready for a new chapter in her life that she does not know yet, but she continues to hope for the support of her fans. She wishes her bandmates that they continue to pursue their dreams and continue to make music.

Band will go on

Leigh-Anne Pinnock (29), Perrie Edwards (27) and Jade Thirlwall (27) have also spoken on Instagram. On the band's official account they stated that it was an incredibly sad time for them, but that they understood Jesy's decision. "It's so important that she takes care of her mental health now." The three singers also reassured the fans that the band would continue to exist. "We look forward to seeing you on tour."
