The new year is here and we want to know from Guido Maria Kretschmer: What will the jewelry trends look like in 2022? The designer gives us a sparkling preview of which accessories we can look forward to.

Hurray, 2022 is here! After the efforts of the past two years, some of us are looking forward to a fresh start. We want to look positively into the future and make the new year as beautiful as possible. You can be a little curious – after all, a new year always has some surprises and new trends in store.

As a designer, Guido Maria Kretschmer has meanwhile not only designed fashion and furniture, but also has his own jewelry collection on the market. So at the beginning of the year we wanted to listen to him a little – which sparkling accessories will accompany us in 2022? In the interview he then predicted five new jewelry trends.

5 jewelry trends for 2022

Statement jewelry

“I think that jewelry is just getting a little bigger again,” says Guido Maria Kretschmer, “in recent years it has been very fine and filigree, now the statement jewelry is coming back.” So it can glitter and be big again, from hoop earrings to chain pendants.

Royal brooches

Well, we almost forgot the piece of jewelery! It is a real eye-catcher. Guido Maria Kretschmer predicts a revival of the brooch for 2022: “I think that would be nice. Like Kate Middleton.”

More is more

“When it comes to jewelry, there is always a change between less and more,” the designer explains to us and, as we have already learned with regard to statement necklaces, this year it can be a little more. This also applies to hair accessories: “In the hair, too, there is again a trend towards larger parts in the braid,” Guido Maria Kretschmer tells us. Whether flower or hair band – dare!

The stones are back

“Whatever comes next are the stones. Classic, but also reinterpreted,” reveals Guido Maria Kretschmer. Stones look particularly good as pendants, they look special and yet never overdressed. Here, too, according to Guido, things are getting colorful again: “I think jewelery can be more colorful again.”

A piece of history

In recent years, many people have realized how important family is. That’s why the trend is now back in the direction of jewelery with a history. “One appreciates the valuable again, it is also the time for hereditary jewelry”, says Guido Maria Kretschmer and is pleased with the development: “Grandma’s bracelet, mom’s ring, there are such beautiful pieces that you can carry on – also in the sense of the Sustainability.”
