In 2021 we will have to pound, not mess, because this year we are making a real statement when it comes to jewelry. Fashion editor Ann-Christin reveals which trends she is particularly looking forward to this year and which parts can be forgotten for now.

It's my never-ending story, and certainly yours too: We stand in front of the wardrobe for what feels like hours, rummaging around for the perfect outfit, looking for shoes and bags – and yet we're not entirely happy with the result. The reason is always the same: Only jewelry rounds our look, it is the icing on the cake when it comes to fashion. So while we have mainly dealt with the latest styles of the coming seasons so far, it is gradually time to pay a little more attention to the topic of bling bling and finally get your home jewelery box ready for 2021. And in this way:

I am a real jewelry addict and especially when it comes to rings: the more the better! While I have so far been relying on delicate rings and stacking them until nothing worked, I now go for the extra-wide version – preferably very clean in gold. And I literally go one step further: Bold rings can also be easily combined – simply wear several on top of each other.

Out: delicate chains

In: XL curb chains

Speaking of stacking: Can you remember the last time you only wore one chain? In recent years, delicate chains have sometimes been so wildly combined that at times there was a real knot chaos on the neck. In 2021 we will have it better: Instead of filigree pieces of jewelery, we are now really puffing up – in the form of oversized curb chains. The XL link chains in gold or silver are now worn with almost everything and, especially in combination with cute dresses, create an exciting break in style. By the way, if you celebrate the trend as much as I do, then invest in a curb bracelet – I promise you, this combination will take your look to the next level of style.

The tighter the neck the better – that has been my motto for jewelry for the past two years. Chokers were THE it-piece and a trend that I was only too happy to be part of. In 2021, however, the short chains will no longer be such a big issue and will make way for their extra-long BFF. It can now fall loosely into the cleavage, decorated with pendants and happily layered – also with the (still) beloved chokers.

Out: Classic pearls

I am sure: as children we all stole the pearl necklace from grandma’s jewelry box in order to be able to play fine checkers. Pearl jewelry is a real evergreen – and it stays that way, but the shape is what sets the trend here. Instead of being accurately rounded, we will – like last year – also use baroque pearls in 2021, which will become real eye-catchers due to their imperfect shape. Especially in combination with hammered gold, curb chains and metal wire, they are a stylish variant of the "granny pearl".
