It was Marcello Mastroianni in 8 ½ in 2015, the radiant smile of Ingrid Bergman in 2016, or even the eternal couple formed by Jean-Paul Belmondo and Anna Karina kissing in Pierrot le Fou by Jean-Luc Godard for the 71st edition of the festival in 2018.
This year, the Festival surprised by choosing to highlight actor Jim Carrey climbing the stairs at the end of the Truman Show, about to leave the dummy setting of his virtual world. A daring but certainly deserved choice for this great actor, never nominated for the Oscars, and who has often only been retained for his comic roles, he who nevertheless offered us magnificent performances in more dramatic registers in films such as as Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind by Michel Gondry or Man on the Moon by Milos Forman.
jim carrey, born in Canada in 1962, discovered a talent for comedy at the age of seven, and made his first appearances as a teenager on various stand-up stages in Toronto. He quickly left his native country at the age of 19 for California where he was quickly noticed and landed his first roles in the cinema. The 90s will be that of the explosion of the actor who will chain popular successes: Ace Ventura, The Mask, and Dumb and Dumber in 1994 or Truman Show in 1998.
While his latest film Sonic 2 has just been released, it seems that the actor is seriously thinking about retiring, if we are to believe his statements during an interview with Access Hollywood.
