Hollywood star will receive the golden palm of honor

Actress, director and producer Jodie Foster is awarded the Palme d’or at the Cannes Film Festival in July.

A special honor for Jodie Foster (58): The American actress, producer and director will receive the Palme d’or. The organizers of the Cannes Film Festival announced this on June 2nd. Foster will also be the guest of honor at the opening ceremony on July 6th.

“Brilliant Artistic Journey”

For a few years now, the Golden Palm has not only been awarded to the best feature film in the competition, but also to individual stars for their work in the form of the Golden Palm of Honor. Foster is to be honored for her “brilliant artistic journey”. In addition, she has shown “a unique personality” and a modestly strong commitment to “some of the most important issues of our time”.

Previous winners include Alain Delon (85) and Jane Fonda (83). She feels “flattered that Cannes is thinking of me” explains Foster in a press release. She was only 13 years old when she first attended the festival in May 1976. Foster is a two-time Oscar winner. She received the coveted film award for “Best Actress” for “Angeklagt” and “Das Schweigen der Lämmer”. This year’s Cannes Film Festival takes place from July 6th to 17th.
