In addition to his 6 million followers, Jodok Vuille aka “Jodokcello” also inspires Pierce Brosnan and star DJ Alan Walker.

In the classical music scene on social media, one name has particularly stood out recently: Jodok Vuille, better known by his stage name “Jodokcello”.

The 35-year-old combines cello playing with well-known world hits and has built up a global fan base through social media. In addition to around six million followers, well-known names such as actor Pierce Brosnan and DJ Alan Walker are also enthusiastic about his videos. The latter was so strong that he spontaneously asked Vuille to work on a project.

Jodok Vuille’s musical journey began in the idyllic Emmental, where he grew up on a farm. It was DJ Bobo’s cousin who taught the then seven-year-old his first steps on the cello.

At the time, where his cello playing would take him was not even the subject of his wildest dreams. Instead, Vuille pursued a teaching career and today teaches sports, music and cello in Hergiswil.

This double burden with his increasing popularity is only possible thanks to the support of the school management, which offers him the freedom to pursue his artistic ambitions. Vuille emphasizes: “Without the understanding and support of the school management, I would not be able to pursue my passion for music in this way.”

Breakthrough thanks to James Bond

The turning point in Vuille’s career came out of nowhere when former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan noticed one of his videos and shared it on his Instagram story. “Jodokcello’s” number of followers exploded overnight, which also led to the internationally successful Norwegian DJ Alan Walker (“Faded”) ending up in the comments section of a Vuille video.

In German: “This is so good! Can you come to Norway tomorrow?” And Vuille answered the call and flew to the Norwegian mountains the next day to shoot a music video for “Who I Am” with Walker.

The pressure to constantly deliver

As your success increases, so does the pressure: the expectations of your followers – and not least your own demands – to regularly publish high-quality content can be stressful. “Sometimes it’s a struggle to meet all the requirements,” admits Vuille. But the positive response from his fans and their anticipation of new content motivate him to continue on this path.

A path that he takes barefoot, by the way, as he always shows himself without shoes in his videos. What initially only had the reason that Vuille found his shoes “too ugly” when recording his first video has developed into his trademark.

For the future, “Jodokcello” hopes to be able to align his life even more with his musical passion. And maybe even fulfill his dream: one day to be on stage with Coldplay.

If you look at the unexpected turns that Vuille’s life has already taken in the past few years, it no longer seems so unrealistic that this dream will become reality.
