(Reuters) – US President Joe Biden on Thursday promulgated a law passed a week earlier by the United States Congress on a ban on imports from China’s Xinjiang region due to forced labor imposed on the Muslim Uyghur minority , announced the White House.

This text, the result of a compromise between the House of Representatives and the Senate, creates a “rebuttable presumption” that all goods from Xinjiang come from forced labor.

China, which regroups the Uyghurs in camps, denies any forced labor.

Xinjiang supplies most of the components used worldwide for the manufacture of solar panels.
