Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama made a strong statement for Joe Biden. And an equally clear one against Donald Trump.

There is a saying that desperate times would require desperate action. Yet three former presidents of the United States of America show in a historical video after the swearing in of Joe Biden (78)that the exact opposite can also occur – and in times of hope they spread an equally hopeful signal of solidarity.

Under the motto "Three Presidents of the United States of America – A Message of Unity" Bill Clinton (74), George W. Bush (74) and Barack Obama (59, "A Promised Land") have come together to celebrate their new Backing the presidents. "Mr. President, I hope for your success. Because your success is the success of our country. God bless you," said Bush. Clinton added: "I'm glad you're here. And I wish you all the best. You spoke for us today. And now they will guide us. And we are ready to follow them."

Obama has a particularly close relationship between the three once most powerful men in the world and Biden. After all, Biden served as Obama's vice president for eight years. "Joe, I'm proud of you. I want you and Kamala to know that the three of us are here and we are all praying for your success."

Message for unity – and against Trump

The video, which is exactly three minutes long, makes it abundantly clear that in addition to support for Joe Biden, it also includes criticism of the elected Donald Trump (74). "We must not only listen to people who we agree with. We also have to listen to people who do not," said Obama. During his four years in office, Trump was repeatedly accused of only wanting to hear what corresponds to his worldview, while he dismissed everything else as "fake news".

"One of the best memories of my swearing-in is the dignity and kindness that President Bush and Laura Bush showed my wife Michelle and me. It was a reminder that while you can have bitter disagreements and yet recognize each other's humanity." Also a clear swipe from Obama against Trump and his wife Melania (50), who both demonstratively stayed away from the inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris (56).
