jogging prohibited in Paris between 10 and 19 hours

The mayor of Paris has announced that jogging activities will be staggered and thus "avoid too many people crossing."

This Tuesday, April 7, the mayor of the capital, Anne Hidalgo, spoke about the coronavirus epidemic and the containment. It has thus announced several decisions to strengthen health measures. Wearing a mask will be even more strongly encouraged in Paris, while joggers will no longer be allowed to go out during the day, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.. A decision taken in conjunction with the Police Prefecture. The act takes effect on Wednesday April 8.
Sports activity has greatly increased in France since the start of containment, but it is a vector of contamination: people mix with one another while playing sports and some people do not strictly respect physical distancing measures.

"It's hard to say, because we know very well that we need it, but we should concentrate [running] on schedules where we will find fewer people on the street," explained Anne Hidalgo.
The latter therefore speaks of moments for "that joggers can run earlier in the morning or later in the evening to prevent these joggers from crossing paths with others. During the day, there are people who go shopping, and it's normal, people go to work. Between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., these slots must not be slots during which you can run. There are places where there are continuous lines of people running, which poses a number of risks, "she added.

The question of masks

"I have always considered it absolutely essential" protect yourself with a mask, said Anne Hidalgo, on FranceInfo.

"Everyone needs to be able to have protection, any type of scarf or mask is better than nothing." The politician therefore promises two million cloth masks offered to Parisians.

"We launched an [initiative] with a network of around thirty small businesses in the social and solidarity economy to manufacture two million reusable masks in fabric made in Paris that will be offered to Parisians", thus explained the elected socialist.
