John Carpenter, the mastermind behind horror classics Halloween, Night of the Masks, Fog and The Thing, returned to his director’s chair for the first time in 13 years for Suburban Screams, an anthology series from six-episode unscripted horror!
As Deadline reports, John Carpenter’s Suburban Screamsits full name, is an exploration of terrifying true stories that took place in seemingly perfect American cities. John Carpenter notably directed an episode of the series which he also produces, and even composed the musical theme. The show is the filmmaker’s first major project since The Ward in 2010.
According to its synopsis, Suburban Dreams explores the dark secrets and unspeakable evil that sometimes lurk beneath the surface of sunny streets, manicured lawns, and friendly suburban neighbors.
Each episode will focus on a real horror story, told by the real people who experienced it. In addition to his stories, episodes will include cinematic reconstructions, personal archives and historical media coverage of the city. This is promising!
Suburban Dreams will be broadcast on Friday October 13 (obviously) on the Peacock streaming platform in the United States.
