John Wick 4: who is Shamier Anderson, the formidable Tracker launched on the heels of Keanu Reeves?

On the occasion of the release of “John Wick: Chapter 4”, carried by the tireless Keanu Reeves, a small focus on the comedian Shamier Anderson, alias the Tracker.

Played by Shamier Anderson, the Tracker is one of the many enemies of John Wick in this fourth feature film dedicated to the famous and formidable ex-hitman played by Keanu Reeves. Increasingly known, this charismatic 31-year-old actor has not finished talking about him and already has several notable performances to his credit, both in the series and on the big screen.

Elder brother of Stephan James, Shamier Anderson obtains a scholarship to integrate the Wexford Collegiate School for the Arts of Ontario, where he graduated. Then, he studied criminology while practicing martial arts. Wanting to make a career in cinema and television, he begins to pass castings. Thus, he finds his first roles in the series Lost Girl, Rookie Blue, Played, the infiltrators and Constantine.

In 2013, Shamier was cast as a bigger character in The Next Step: The Studio for Netflix, a reality series that follows a dance troupe out to win a regional and then national competition. In the cinema, we can see it, more or less furtively, in Dancing Heart, Across the Line, The Color of Victory, Destroyer, City Of Lies, Love Again or A Son of the South.

But it is on the side of the small screen that he finds his most significant roles. Witness his performances in Wynonna Earp, a fantastic series where he plays Deputy Marshal Xavier Dolls, but also in Goliath alongside Billy Bob Thornton. He is also one of the protagonists of Invasion on Apple. In the latter, the Canadian embodies a soldier on a mission in Afghanistan confronted with aliens.

At the same time, his roles in the cinema are gaining in thickness. It is seen in the Netflix sci-fi films The Passenger #4 and Awake. But also (and always for the famous platform) in Meurtrie, where Halle Berry plays an ex-MMA champion who is looking to fight again. In early 2023, he shows his physical abilities with John Wick: Chapter 4, still led by Keanu Reeves.

Shamier Anderson

Shamier Anderson portrays a man nicknamed the Tracker, who is on the heels of John Wick. He is accompanied by his faithful canine companion, a Belgian Shepherd Malinois. The Canadian actor explains: “The Tracker likes to touch things, whether it’s his notebook in which he writes down everything he observes while tracking Wick, his bag, his flashlight, his fire, his clothes and his dog.”

Shamier arrived in Berlin ahead of filming to train with his canine partners, as he recalls: “I had to spend the whole day with the dogs. They all had different personalities, they didn’t have the same resistance and didn’t all know how to do the same things. I not only got to know them, but I I tried to identify their energy and establish a credible relationship with them.”

In addition, Shamier Anderson sits on the board of directors of the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television. With Stephan James, he set up the Black Academy, which promotes the talents of black people in the country.
