John Wick 5: a sequel planned for Keanu Reeves? Not so fast!

While a “John Wick 5” had been announced, surprising more than one spectator, director Chad Stahelski calms the heat by specifying that things are far from being done.

Will John Wick be back in theaters? “Yes” according to the president of Lionsgate. “We’ll see” according to Chad Stahelski, director of the first four opuses. If a fifth film had been announced at the end of May, in addition to spin-offs, we will obviously have to arm ourselves, not with guns, but with patience.

In an interview given to Empirethe director says he is torn between the desire to put the cover back on and that of seeing the end of Chapter 4 as a conclusion to the misadventures of the hitman played by Keanu Reeves:

“Now that we’ve done the fourth [film] and come full circle, if I may say so, I think it’s a good ending for the franchise.”

“And then there’s the competitor, or rather the real director in me, who says to himself, ‘Fuck it, we’ll see if we can do it.’ It’s very tempting. But I don’t have the ‘Why’ right now. That doesn’t mean we have to stop looking.”

If we could already begin to imagine the potential future opponents of Keanu Reeves in a John Wick 5, Chad Stahelski will shower some enthusiasm by reminding us that we will above all have to start by being patient. If the sequel sees the light of day.
