John Wick better watch out, Denzel Washington is coming back to break some bad guy

Get ready for a good dose of fight! Denzel Washington is about to return to the skin of vigilante Robert McCall in a 3rd installment of the Equalizer saga.

Denzel Washington, protagonist of the Equalizer action saga, will be making a comeback in a 3rd installment! The actor revealed the information at the microphone of Collider. At 67, the artist wants to prove that he still has some under the pedal, like Liam Neeson, who continues action films despite his 69 springs.

They wrote Equalizer 3, so I have to. I’m going to have to get back in shape to start kicking people’s mouths again… It’s cool isn’t it?

After Infinite, released on Amazon Prime Video, and The Guilty, broadcast on Netflix, Antoine Fuqua is currently in negotiations to complete his trilogy, which began in 2014. The director was in charge of both parts of the franchise. Logically, he should be back for this 3rd episode.

At the moment, the 55-year-old director is busy on Emancipation, an Apple TV+ feature film starring Will Smith. Equalizer 3 will surely be his next project. As a reminder, the saga tells the story of Robert McCall, a retired super secret agent who continues to serve justice on behalf of the exploited and oppressed.

EQUALIZER, A SUCCESS IN THEATERS?

The first two episodes, released in 2014 and 2018, brought in a cumulative of nearly $400 million in worldwide revenue. In France, the success was moderate, attracting 1.5 million action fans in two films. For the 3rd iteration of the franchise, will McCall travel outside the USA? It’s an idea that crossed Antoine Fuqua’s mind.

“In my head, there is a European adventure, absolutely. That’s what I would like, to see it in Europe in the future. God willing”, he indicated for Collider in 2018. The vigilante camped by Denzel Washington would thus follow in the footsteps of a certain John Wick, who will visit France and Germany in the 4th part, expected for 2023.

In the meantime, we can find Denzel Washington in The Tragedy of Macbeth, available since January 14 on Apple TV+.
