Rock musician Jeff Beck would have been 79 years old. For his birthday, Johnny Depp posted a joint photo and touching words.

Johnny Depp, 60, commemorated the birthday of his late friend Jeff Beck (1944-2023). The rock musician would have been 79 years old on June 24th. He died on January 10 from bacterial meningitis.

“You are with me, always”

Depp reported with a shared snapshot and touching words in an Instagram post. He wrote: “Happy birthday my dearest brother Jeff. You are with me always. You are everything!” He also sent “everlasting love” and “adoration” to his pal, who passed away five months ago at the age of 78. The picture shows the two screwing on a car – obviously another common passion besides music.

Just last month, Johnny Depp honored fellow musician Jeff Beck with two tribute concerts in London. The actor and hobby guitarist performed in London’s Royal Albert Hall together with rock greats such as Eric Clapton, 78, Rod Stewart, 78, and Ron Wood, 76. He was wearing a white denim jacket with Beck’s face on the back.

Depp was closely associated with the musician, who was named the fifth best guitarist of all time by Rolling Stone magazine. “The two had a very close friendship, they were extremely close and became even closer friends last summer while touring together,” a source told People magazine after Beck’s death. The actor is said to have visited his friend on his deathbed. The guitarist’s health had deteriorated rapidly earlier in the year. Depp is said to have been “devastated” by the loss of his friend.

In the summer of 2022 they released an album

In July 2022, they had released a collaborative album entitled “18” as well as an official music video for the single “This Is a Song for Miss Hedy Lamarr”. In the summer, the duo also had a few performances together, including in several German cities. Depp said of working with the eight-time Grammy winner at the time: “It’s an extraordinary honor to play and write music with Jeff, one of the all-time greats and someone I can now call my brother.” The rock legend also praised the Hollywood star: “I haven’t had a creative partner like him in a long time. I just hope that people take him seriously as a musician because it’s hard for some people to accept that Johnny Depp rock’ can sing ‘n’ roll.”
