Johnny Depp (60) has landed his second role after winning his libel case against ex-wife Amber Heard (38) – and what a role it is. The actor, who recently fell from grace in Hollywood, embodies Satan himself. “The Carnival At The End Of Days” is the name of the film by cult director Terry Gilliam (83, “12 Monkeys”, “Brazil”). The former member of the comedy group Monty Python presented the project to the French magazine “Premiere” Depp and Gilliam have already worked together twice: on “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” (1998) and “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” (2009).

Terry Gilliam describes his film as a comedy in which God wants to destroy humanity. The only one who opposes him is the devil. After all, without humans, hell would remain empty. Satan introduces God to two young people, whom he presents as the new Adam and Eve. Gilliam had already spoken about the film in December 2023 and dreamed of Johnny Depp being cast as the devil. This has now been officially confirmed.

Star-studded comeback of Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp is not the only prominent actor that Terry Gilliam was able to win over. Jeff Bridges (74, “The Big Lebowski”) will play God. Perhaps he will only speak, because Gilliam wants to portray God in an animated form as a part of nature, as he revealed to “Premiere”.

In addition to Depp and Bridges, two of the most sought-after Hollywood stars, Adam Driver (40) and Jason Momoa (44), are also in the cast. It is not yet known exactly what roles they will play. The actress who will play the new Eva is still being sought.

For Johnny Depp, it is the first film with a prominent English-speaking cast in a long time. His comeback after the trial, in which his image also did not fare well, was the French production “Jeanne du Barry” (2023).
