Hollywood star Johnny Depp has defended himself against allegations of sexual abuse by his ex-wife Amber Heard in the Fairfax District Court in Virginia. It was “insane” to hear Heard’s allegations of violence in this trial, Depp said on the witness stand on Wednesday. During questioning by his legal team, the actor described the allegations as “terrible”, “ridiculous”, “incredibly brutal”, “cruel”, “humiliating” and “completely false”.

He “never” used physical violence in his relationship with Heard, Depp said. Revealing yourself in court is not easy for anyone. The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star emphasized that he told the truth in the process. The “Aquaman” actress had repeatedly accused her former husband of violent behavior on the witness stand.

The civil process between ex-husbands Depp (58) and Heard (36), which has been going on for six weeks, is in its final phase. Closing arguments are expected on Friday, after which the case will go to the jury.

British model Kate Moss defended her ex-boyfriend Depp on Wednesday. “He never pushed me, kicked me or threw me down a flight of stairs,” said the 48-year-old Brit. She was connected via video from England, her testimony lasted only a few minutes.

Moss’ testimony is taken as a point for Depp because it contradicts an earlier comment by Heard. In early May, Heard referred to an alleged incident in which Depp attacked model Moss on a staircase in her description of a violent argument in her relationship with Depp.

In his civil lawsuit, Depp alleges that his ex-wife made false statements in a 2018 op-ed by the Washington Post about domestic violence. This damaged his reputation. Depp is suing for around 50 million dollars (a good 48 million francs) in damages for defamation, Heard has filed a counterclaim for 100 million dollars.

The two actors met in 2009 while filming the joint film “The Rum Diary”. They married in 2015, but after 15 months of marriage, Heard filed for divorce.
