Johnny Depp: Two million Instagram followers already

It was just 22 hours ago that Johnny Depp (56) uploaded the first picture to his newly founded Instagram account. Since then, the mime has already garnered over two million followers on the social network, resulting in a bombastic average of almost 100,000 new subscribers per hour.

Depp is reported to have been close to the 1 million mark in about four hours. However, the operators of Guinness World Records have not yet officially confirmed whether it was enough for a new Instagram record in the end. Jennifer Aniston (51) is still the record holder who has so far required the least time to reach one million followers after opening an account – five hours and 16 minutes. The registration of the "Friends" star had even temporarily caused the site to collapse in October of last year.

From Instagram's throne, Aniston had pushed out the then-genuine Royals Prince Harry (35) and Duchess Meghan (38), who needed 29 minutes longer than the actress for the million mark.

Many followers, few followers

Traditionally, the stars themselves are more reluctant to follow other accounts. Johnny Depp is no exception, so far there are still under 100. The stars Depp follows include his sponsor Tim Burton (61), his own daughter Lily-Rose (20) and her mother, Depp's ex-partner Vanessa Paradis (47). Otherwise, rockers, rappers and music greats like Paul McCartney (77), Bob Dylan (78), Aerosmith, Dr. Dre (55), Snoop Dogg (48), but also Alice Cooper (72) and Marilyn Manson (51).

Not surprising: His ex-wife Amber Heard (33), with whom Depp has been fighting bitterly – even in court – for several years, has so far not followed the mime and certainly not for the time being.
