Johnny Hallyday, a new title unveiled

Four years after the death of Johnny Hallyday in December 2017, a Taulier title was found by Universal. Entitled “The Specialist”, it was recorded in the 1970s.

Probably created for the soundtrack of the film “The Specialist” by Sergio Corbucci, released in 1969 in which Johnny played his first role of composition, this song was found in the archives of Universal, as revealed by RTL. “It’s a surprise and a very good surprise”, explained to our colleagues Xavier Perrot, the artistic manager of Johnny Hallyday’s catalog at Universal, who thought that “this title was lost forever” until he resurface. “It is thanks to the research of the documentation department that we were able to get our hands on this archive. (…) There were few indications, except “the specialist”. But there was no Johnny’s name,” he continues.

A third new title

Since the death of the star, “The specialist” is the third unreleased title of the Taulier to be discovered. It succeeds “La nuit avec moi”, recorded in 1968 and “Deux sorts d’hommes”, dating from 2014. This new song, of which there are only “two takes, a first with a rock formation and another more acoustic”, specifies Xavier Perrot, will be integrated into the reissue of the album “Vie”, available from this Friday, January 28.

Written by the lyricist Georges Aber on the melody of Sergio Corbucci’s film, this found title nevertheless retains some mysteries. If she was most certainly to find herself in the soundtrack of the feature film, “Why was she on this tape? Why was it not used? asks Xavier Perrot on RTL.

“This song raises a lot of questions but it remains a document, a real nugget and I hope there will be others” he concluded. It is already available on Youtube.
