Johnny Ortiz: "El Camino" actor faces life sentence

Johnny Ortiz, also known from the "Breaking Bad" film "El Camino", is currently in custody. The allegations weigh heavily.

Actor Johnny Ortiz (24, "City of McFarland"), who became internationally known alongside Kevin Costner (65) in the sports drama "City of McFarland" (2015), faces a life sentence on charges. Among other things, he is accused of attempted murder. The US industry portal "Deadline" reports. Ortiz, who had been arrested at the end of May, was now appearing in Los Angeles with a co-defendant. The judge at the Foltz Criminal Justice Center scheduled a preliminary hearing on September 22. Most recently, the young star was seen in "El Camino: A 'Breaking Bad' film".

Bleak prospects for Johnny Ortiz

Should Ortiz be found guilty on the charges of "attempted willful, deliberate and willful attempted murder", the young actor could face up to 25 years or life imprisonment in the state prison under the California Penal Code. In addition, around ten years could be added due to additional penalties. Ortiz, who has to bail $ 1.1 million to get out of the hearing, pleaded not guilty on the charges.

According to court documents available from "TMZ", Ortiz is said to have tried to kill another person with another man. The attempted murder was said to be "for the benefit, on instruction, and in connection with a criminal street gang that aims to promote and support the criminal behavior of gang members." The extent to which Ortiz was involved has not yet been fully clarified.
