“Joint actions” – Threatened occupation: University wants dialogue with activists

Intention is important, implementation is questionable
When asked about the impending occupation, university rector Hendrik Lehnert reacted with two minds. “Basically, the issue is extremely important and has our full support. But whether occupying lecture halls is the right way to go about it is an excellent subject for discussion,” he says. For example, the occupation of lecture halls would impair education. “And that is the guarantee for a sustainable society,” he says. That’s why the university wants to contact the activists in advance to discuss possibilities for joint actions. If that doesn’t work and the occupation still comes about: “Let’s not blockade, but are there immediately and ready to talk,” says Rector Lehnert.
