Highly anticipated in theaters on October 4, 2024, Joker 2 will be a significantly different sequel to the first film, in many ways. The work will clearly not be for all audiences.
Joker 2 had two important revelations to make to us today: its age rating and a first official poster. On the one hand, this allows us to know the very mature themes that will be discussed there. On the other hand, we can see a little better what Lady Gaga’s portrayal of Harley Quinn will look like, as well as the “musical” component of the film. A whole program in perspective.
Joker 2: a shocking sequel to the first event film
Released in 2019, the first film was marked by its criticism of society and an anti-hero very different from the usual Joker, Batman’s nemesis. Five years later, Joker 2 intends to stand out even more from the more classic DC Comics productions. Called Folie à Deux, this will allow us to discover another representation of Harley Quinn, played by Lady Gaga. The addition of such an artist to the cast also allows the film to attempt to revisit the concept of musical comedy.
This should not be the only radical development for Joker 2. The first film was intended to be more psychological and tortured, despite the presence of some very violent scenes. Its sequel received an R rating, indicating a film intended for an adult audience. And for good reason, it will tackle strong themes such as violence, foul language, but also sexuality and brief scenes of nudity. With this explosive cocktail, this film, expected in theaters on October 4, will clearly not be accessible to everyone, in more than one way.
Big headliners for a promising film?
In addition to its classification, Joker 2 saw its first official poster appear on the web. We can see Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker and Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn. Both are dressed chicly, as if for a wedding or a ball, engaged in a dance for two. The poster therefore clearly shows the film’s intention to have a musical comedy component.
