More than a cop, a singer. Jonathan Cohen returns to a completely new role in the film Sentinel, an Amazon Original comedy, for which he finds the duo Hugo Benamozig and David Caviglioli, who had directed him in Terrible Jungle.
Produced by 22h22 and Les Films entre 2 et 4, Sentinelle will be launched exclusively on Prime Video and in more than 240 territories.
The actor embodies François Sentinelle, a man who leads a double life. By day, he is Reunion Island’s most publicized cop, known for his tough methods and flowery shirts, chasing criminals aboard his famous yellow defender.
But outside working hours (and very often during), Sentinelle has another job: charming singer. All the people of Reunion danced to “Le Kiki”, his hit from his youth today a bit embarrassing. For fifteen years, he has been trying to reconnect with success by preparing a new album… without success.
Because Sentinelle has a hard time choosing between the police and the music. Rather focused on his concerts and the release of his album, Sentinelle has nothing to do with a wave of violent crimes that is shaking the island. A figure of the local elite is kidnapped, another assassinated. For any cop, it would be the deal of a lifetime. But Sentinel doesn’t really have the head to investigate.
Scheduled for September 8 on Prime Video, Sentinel is unveiled today with a first teaser that allows the public to discover the formidable playground in which Jonathan Cohen will once again make us laugh and move us.
The actor is surrounded by a high-flying cast: Emmanuelle Bercot (Le Bal des Folles), Ramzy Bedia (Medellin), Gustave Kervern (Murder Party) and Raphaël Quenard, an essential revelation seen recently in Chien de la casse and Cash.
With a gun in the hand and a microphone in the other, François Sentinelle promises to be a new key character in the panoply of Jonathan Cohen, who should count a new success with this comedy which promises to be rhythmic, funny and surprising.
