Jonathan Rhys Meyers was in a car accident – apparently drunk and self-inflicted. Police arrested the actor in Malibu.
Jonathan Rhys Meyers (43) apparently has trouble with the police again. As reported by "TMZ", the actor is said to have caused a car accident in Malibu, California, on Sunday (November 8th). Anonymous sources from the law enforcement agencies had told the US portal that the police had moved to the scene of the accident around 5 p.m. (local time). There the emergency services found a Meyers who was presumably drunk.
It is still unclear what led to the accident in which no other vehicle was involved. The "Tudors" star allegedly failed to pass the first sobriety tests on site. He was arrested for drunk driving and is said to be still in police custody.
Alcohol, his companion
It is not the first time that Meyers attracts attention through alcoholic chaplains. Because of his alcohol addiction, he was admitted to a rehab clinic in 2007. Further rehabilitation stays followed – but without lasting success. In 2018, the actor was arrested at Los Angeles Airport after getting into an argument with his wife Mara Lane while drunk on board a plane. The two have been married since 2016 and have a son.
