He was once a celebrated child star and played one of the main roles in the hit series “Listen, Who’s Hammering?” Today, Jonathan Taylor Thomas not only lives a life far away from Hollywood, he has also drastically changed his appearance.

Fans can hardly believe their eyes when they see this: Jonathan Taylor Thomas, 42, has made a 180-degree turnaround. While he enjoyed great success on television and on the big screen in the 1990s, today he lives completely withdrawn from the public eye. While posters of his face once adorned the walls of young girls, he is now barely recognizable.

On In current footage, which “Page Six” shows, among others, the actor can be seen in a beige knitted sweater, black hat, jeans and sneakers leaving a supermarket near his home in California. Only if you look closely can you see that the former teenage crush is hidden behind the casual look, stubble and glasses. It’s the first time he’s been spotted in two years.

In the role of Randy, the middle son of DIY king Tim Taylor (played by Tim Allen, 70) in the sitcom “Listen, Who’s Hammering” he conquered the hearts of teenagers from 1991 to 1998. In 1994 he also lent his voice to the young Simba in the Disney film “The Lion King” and in 1996 to the main character in “The Legend of Pinocchio”. Two years later, alongside Jessica Biel, 41, he played the main role in the Christmas film “A Wild Gift”. Despite his promising career prospects, Jonathan Taylor Thomas turned his back on Hollywood.

The teen star swapped Hollywood for school

In 1998, the Pennsylvania-born actor dropped out of “Listen, Who’s Got It Out” to concentrate on his academic studies. “I had been working non-stop since I was eight years old. I wanted to go to school, travel and take a little break,” he explained his decision in a 2013 interview with People. “Sitting in a big library between books and students was pretty cool. It was a new experience for me.”

He studied philosophy and history at the renowned Harvard University and graduated from Columbia University in 2010. He also attended St. Andrews University in Scotland, where Prince William, 41, also studied. He appeared regularly in film and television productions until 2005, but after that he only appeared rarely. He most recently starred alongside Tim Allen in four episodes of the series “Last Man Standing” from 2013 to 2015, and even directed one episode each in 2013, 2014 and 2016. Since then, the now 42-year-old has only been seen very rarely.

However, he does not regret leaving show business. “I never took fame too seriously,” he told People about ten years ago. It was a great time in his life, but it didn’t define him. “When I think back on that time, I look at it with a wink. I focus on the good moments I had, not on the fact that I was on a lot of magazine covers.”
