Jordan Bardella widely elected president of the National Rally

The MEP wins against Louis Aliot and succeeds Marine Le Pen at the head of the National Rally.

The news comes as no surprise. MEP Jordan Bardella, already appointed interim president of the party in September 2021, was the big favorite in this election. He officially takes over from Marine Le Pen at the head of the National Rally, this Saturday, with 85% of the vote. He faced the historical frontist and mayor of Perpignan, Louis Aliot.

A score higher than that achieved in 2011 by Marine Le Pen, who won the presidency at the Tour Congress with 67.65% of the vote. “I do not leave the presidency of the movement to go on vacationhowever, made a point of specifying the outgoing president of the National Rally. I remain fully mobilized.”

The internal campaign had been going on since September 9, the deadline for submitting applications. At the RN, the executives were delighted, in front of the press, to have the choice between two candidates. A “sign of vitality and internal democracythey assured. If Marine Le Pen has never taken a position in favor of one or the other, Jordan Bardella particularly played the card of filiation with the former boss of the party, ensuring that his presidency would take place in “the continuityof its predecessor. Louis Aliot, too, claimed to be of the line “marinism“, and the competition between the two men gave rise to some exchanges of fire internally, the supporters of Louis Aliot denouncing, in particular, a match played in advance.

Nothing in common, however, with the 2011 congress, which opposed Bruno Gollnisch to Marine Le Pen, and really proposed two visions and two distinct lines for the party to the flame. Jordan Bardella, meanwhile, has already announced that he would adopt the posture of conciliation, proposing to appoint his rival vice-president of the party.
