Short pants are tolerated by fashion editor Linda, but nothing more. Instead, she uses the longer and stylish alternative, the so-called jorts.

Summer, sun — hot flashes, sweat and tears! An exaggerated representation, which for me also corresponds a little to reality on particularly hot days. Yes, as soon as summer knocks on the door, it’s over. Put an end to the winter blues that you sometimes carry with you through spring (depending on how dreary it is). But also the long one Pants — thanks to the rising temperature scale. Time to break out the short clothes.

Jorts: The stylish alternative to shorts

In the here and now I can admit it: I find shorts to be restrictive. Of course, they give you a lot of legroom, just cover your bottom. But the super short models are usually cut so tightly that they turn every movement into an awkward pose maneuver: When sitting, they cut in, when walking, they sometimes show more than one would like … And here I jump into the one for everyone Bresche who hardly dare to say it: not everyone likes to wear shorts. Be it because of subjective dissatisfaction, the cut of the models (keyword: thighs touching, which end in bloody insides after a short walk) or the shrill 2000s look, where hip height meets baggy cut.

Casual combination: It doesn’t always have to be complicated

The big designers like Givenchy or Gucci as well as celebrities will show it in 2023. From Hailey Bieber to Gigi Hadid: the loose jorts (jeans + shorts) are experiencing their heyday. Also, thanks to the simple combination options. In the simplest case, this means: T-shirt, pants, that’s all you need. Sounds pragmatic, but looks incredibly stylish. White jeans or dark wash? Crop top or oversized shirt? There are no limits to the fashionable visions. Add one or two accessories and the look for a walk or a stroll through the city is complete. Too calm? The minimalist chic is reminiscent of the discreet style of the fashion-conscious Copenhagen women, but also of the nonchalance of French women due to the looseness. Tip: Since basic is combined with basic here, it is worth investing in high-quality clothing. This is not only more sustainable, but also means that you can wear the pieces over the long term and combine them with new trends.

The elegant combination for the evening

As practical as the shorts are, they can be just as glamorous – even for the evening. Who says classic elegance always wins? Correct, there is no law that prescribes: At the bar I wear my little black dress or black trousers with a fine blouse. We make the fashion laws ourselves. What works as denim shorts during the day also works well in the evening! The secret is in the mix. Since the shorts are already very casual, we grab more elegant pieces. Blazers, blouses and corsets with bows, lace and frills turn the casual piece into an elegant eye-catcher. The absolute non plus ultra is reached when high heels join the jorts.

PS: Another personal tip. First casually to the office, then dug the stilettos out of the bag, applied red lipstick and then we went to the location next door with my colleagues for a beer, wine, cola, coffee after work.
