Josef Gramm – A new prison director is finally appointed

A year ago, the “Krone” reported on the impending retirement of the head of the institution, since then there has been a long and unsuccessful search for a successor. But now a new leader is being installed in Klagenfurt.

For almost a year, since Brigaider Peter Bevc retired, the Klagenfurt prison has been looking for a new director. At first the search was exclusively among lawyers, but then again among the officers. The previous deputy head of the facility, Lieutenant Colonel Josef Gramm, is now said to be in charge of the approximately 150 employees. Up to 350 prisoners are in prison in Klagenfurt – but never longer than 18 months. 11 labor and commercial companies ensure the employment and training of the inmates. The Klagenfurt prison also includes the branch office in Rottenstein am Längsee and a day-care center in Grafenstein.
