Footballer Josh Cavallo celebrates engagement

Josh Cavallo posts a total of three photos of himself and his loved one. The first picture shows the Australian footballer, who is under contract with Adelaide United, getting down on his knees in his stadium and opening a ring box. Leighton can’t seem to believe what’s happening. Overwhelmed by the unique moment, he covers his eyes with his hand. In the second photo, the 24-year-old is beaming, his partner is still upset. The final snapshot in the series is a black and white portrait of the men’s hands – which shows off the sparkling engagement ring.

“This year starts with my fiancé,” writes Josh Cavallo and thanks his club: “Thank you @adelaideunited for helping me organize this surprise.” And continued: “Your endless support has meant so much to me. You have offered me a safe space in football that I never dreamed possible and encouraged me to live authentically every day of my life. It felt right “To share that special moment on the field where it all began.”

The Australian kicker came out in 2021

In October 2021, Josh Cavallo shared an emotional video in which he made his sexual orientation known. “I’m Josh Cavallo. I’m a soccer player and I’m gay,” said the 21-year-old. He was the first active player in a top league to celebrate his coming out. “I was afraid of being allowed to be myself. All I want to do is play football and be treated as an equal,” he emphasized.

But he added: “Coming out to my loved ones, my friends, my teammates and my coaches was incredible.” By coming out, he wanted to inspire others to stand up for themselves. “You are meant to be yourself,” he said.
