Josh Greenfield confirms the presence of 40-player Raids on Season of Discovery

While Phase 2 of the Season of Discovery limits players to level 40, some are already turning to the end game with the Raids at 40 from the original version of WoW. This is why we took advantage of our interview with Nora Valletta (Lead Software Engineer) and
Josh Greenfield (Senior Game Producer), two responsible for the development of this alternative version of
World of Warcraftto discuss the Raid content coming to SoD.

Note that if you are new to WoW Classic, you can find all our advice for the leveling phase in the Season of Discovery.

Raids at 40 in the Season of Discovery?

Regarding the content at level 60, the development teams prefer not to reveal too many elements since Phase 2 has just arrived. Thus, the few responses are generally very cautious and evasive but we were nevertheless able to obtain some important information regarding the PvE content to come in the Season of Discovery, including confirmation of the presence of Raids at 40.

“I can confirm that there will be 40 player Raids. »

Josh Greenfield responds immediately.

Intrigued by this relatively short answer, we discuss the presence of the original Raids that have become iconic to the World of Warcraft community. While the concept of the Season of Discovery was to completely transform the WoW Classic adventure, it must be taken into account that players are nevertheless attached to the PvE HL content of the time.

“You should expect to see versions of the original Raids (…). In what form and what adjustments will be made to them? You’ll have to wait to find out all that. »

Added Josh Greenfield.

This therefore implies that we could find a 40-player Raid in the original instances like Molten Core, but with probably reworked fights, or even with new Bosses. Given the evolution of the gameplay brought to the different classes of SoD, it seems logical that the clashes are redesigned. Especially since the fights in Phase 1 and 2 have already evolved a lot compared to the original version of the game, we can expect increased difficulty and Bosses much closer to the Retail level.

Be careful, however, Raids with 40 players will not be accessible before future Phases of the Season of Discovery, probably not before Phase 4, which places the level limit at 60. On this subject, the developers preferred not to give any details. release date, leaving us awaiting future announcements.
