A new adventure for Hugo Clément. The journalist, specialist in environmental issues, is launching his own independent media, called “Vakita”. According to the “Parisien”, it will be a platform accessible via a subscription at five euros per month, without commitment. This media will be militant because “the situation is too serious to remain in a posture of neutrality”, let its creators know.

Hugo Clément launches his own independent media. It will be a platform called Vakita, according to information from our colleagues at Parisian. A media which, unsurprisingly, will deal with subjects around the environment and which will be accessible by subscription. It will cost five euros per month, without commitment.

vakita will be launched mid-November

Subscribers will be able to discover a video survey every day. And each time, ideas for concrete actions will be suggested. It will be a medium with an assumed militant bias: “The situation is too serious to remain in a posture of neutrality”, say its creators at the Parisian. Hugo Clément is associated with Régis Lamanna-Rodat. Together they are already producing the show On the front for France 5. And they will launch vakita mid-November.

A name referring to an endangered animal

The name vakita is a reference to an animal, the vaquita, also called the Pacific porpoise or the Gulf of California. The vaquita is a marine mammal considered by WWF to be the most endangered mammal in the world. “In 2017, there were only 30 vaquitas left in the waters of the Gulf” of California, can we read on the NGO’s website.
