Revealed during the State of Play of Sony in February, THE FPS science fiction, inspired by the works ofIsaac Asimovcoming soon to PSVR 2, Meta Quest 2/3/Pro and Pico 4. As a reminder, the game invites you to play as the agent Wardpossessing abilities allowing him to perceive and manipulate the emotions of others.
In the virtual reality industry, few games offer several choices and so many different consequences (in line with Life is Strange, As Dusk Falls, Detroit: Become Human…). Journey to Foundation wants to remedy this, and this time, in first person view.
Here’s what the studio says about the release PSVR 2 Game :
The Foundation series takes place in the heart of a galactic crisis. The Galactic Empire, which has maintained peace for 12,000 years and occupies 25 million planets, is on the verge of collapse. Major events are underway that are shifting the balance of power across the galaxy. We are delighted to be able to exploit the 4K resolution and the computing power of the headset to offer you a show that meets the challenges.
Your character, Agent Ward, has mental abilities that allow him to feel and manipulate the emotions of others. It’s a subtle art: if you go too far, you risk causing irreversible damage. We take advantage of the haptic feedback of the PS VR2 headset to make you feel like you are using your mind and to guide you during the game. Players will also feel like they’re right in the middle of the action when a star explodes or a ship crashes. With the headset’s haptic feedback, you’ll swear you’re there.
In the cutscenes, you can see the plot unfold. In Journey to Foundation, you are at the heart of every scene. But the goal wasn’t just to give you a few dialogue options to keep you interested. Eye movement tracking allows you to select the next part of the conversation by looking at an option and pressing the X key to confirm it.
Even when imposing figures like the Viceroy cast disdainful glances at you, you can observe your surroundings for special hidden clues. Additionally, certain items scattered throughout the game can unlock unique dialogue and new player branches.
We created specialized chips that we called MDA (for “atomic defense modules”). You can place them on the back of your base weapon to change how it works and access different types of blasters. By replacing the chip, you’ll upgrade to a different weapon type, and each weapon will feel unique to you thanks to the sound, haptic feedback, and force feedback of the PlayStation Adaptive Triggers.
In VR, your body is your controller. This is why we incorporated gestures into conversations. When an opponent takes aim at you with their pistol, you should not press the X button to surrender, but rather put your hands in the air (or receive a warning from NPCs if you do not follow their orders).
Journey To Foundation will be released on October 26, 2023 on all VR platforms (except PCVR).
