- Star chef Alfons Schuhbeck ends up behind bars for tax evasion in the millions.
- The district court of Munich 1 sentenced Schuhbeck to three years and two months in prison without parole.
- The defense asked for a suspended sentence.
The defense attorneys justified their claim, among other things, with the confession that their client had made, but also with his life’s work.
Schuhbeck is a gifted cook and incomparable in dealing with spices, said one of his lawyers. He only ever opened shops, restaurants and spice shops. But he forgot the commercial side.
More than two million euros
The public prosecutor had previously demanded a prison sentence of four years and two months for Schuhbeck. Among other things, he used a computer program to smuggle income past the tax office, according to the prosecutor.
In total, there are more than 2.3 million euros in taxes that Schuhbeck evaded in the “Orlando” and “Südtiroler Stuben” restaurants.
The co-accused, who is said to have designed the computer program, is on trial as an accessory.
