The Federal Criminal Court has sentenced the perpetrator of the Lugano knife attack to nine years in prison.
The presiding judge found the Ticino woman guilty of twice attempted murder and violating the al-Qaeda law.
In November 2020, the perpetrator attacked two customers with a knife in a shop and seriously injured one of them.
The 29-year-old convict has to serve nine years in prison or in a closed therapeutic institution. The Federal Criminal Court in Bellinzona ruled that she had carried out Islamist propaganda.
