Dame Judi Dench (86) took on a special task at the Chelsea Flower Show on Monday (September 20): As an ambassador, she opened the Green Canopy Garden, which is intended to emphasize the importance of trees, forests, grasslands and meadows as a habitat for wild animals and initiated by Queen Elizabeth II (95). Dressed in a light outfit with a linen jacket, Dench enjoyed the sight of the flowers.

As reported by the British Daily Mail, Queen Elizabeth II will not attend the event. She is slated to skip it for the first time since 2005 this year as she is on the Balmoral estate in Scotland, where she is expected to stay until October. It’s only the tenth time that she has missed the flower show. I hope the Queen will find “a quiet time to stroll around in her own garden” she explained to the US magazine “People”. The Royal Family was nevertheless represented, among others by Princess Anne (71), Sophie von Wessex (56), husband Prince Edward (57) and Princess Alexandra (84).

Other stars also attended the event: TV star Gemma Collins (40) or Guy Ritchie (53) came with his wife Jacqui Ainsley (39). The Chelsea Flower Show usually takes place in May, but had to be postponed for the first time in its 109-year history due to the corona pandemic. On Tuesday (September 21st) it will open its doors to visitors.
