Judith Rakers (48) has been part of the “Tagesschau” team since 2005 and is considered one of the most popular news presenters in the country. Now the 48-year-old is leaving the news program after 19 years. NDR announced this on Tuesday (January 16)..

Rakers is leaving the show “at her own request” in order to concentrate more on her entrepreneurial activities in the future. Your last “Tagesschau” edition will run on January 31st at 8 p.m.

It remains with the television audience

“After 19 successful and exciting years at the ‘Tagesschau’, it is with a heavy heart that I have decided to leave,” Rakers is quoted as saying in the statement. “It’s time to focus my life on other projects, to further expand my entrepreneurial activities and to tackle new things for which there hasn’t been enough time in addition to the news shift.”

However, Judith Rakers does not completely disappear from the television screen: the 48-year-old remains with the audience as the presenter of the Radio Bremen talk show “3nach9” and the ARD travel magazine “Wunderschön”.

Initially no successor for Judith Rakers

As the broadcaster further announced, there is currently no successor for Rakers at the “Tagesschau”. The main edition at 8 p.m. will continue to be moderated by Jens Riewa (60), Susanne Daubner (62), Julia-Niharika Sen (56), Thorsten Schröder (56) and Constantin Schreiber (44).

Rakers has been a spokeswoman for the “Tagesschau” since August 2005. She read the main edition at 8 p.m. for the first time on March 18, 2008.
