In men, nothing goes
The French men’s judo team did not win any medals from the European Championships in Sofia.
In the absence of the usual captains, and of Teddy Riner who is refining his preparation, the French Judo Federation had decided to give young people a chance, without obtaining any real success, since the four engaged on Sunday did not exceed the eighth of final.
In the over 100 kg, Joseph Terhec acted as a substitute for Riner, whom he had surprised in France by teams, but he was beaten from the start by the German Johannes Frey. In the under 90 kg, Alexis Mathieu saw his competition stop in the round of 16 after his defeat against the Greek Tselidis, on waza-ari. In the same category, Maxime-Gaël Ngayap-Hambou was eliminated at the same stage by the Romanian Cret Finally, in less than 100 kg, Cédric Olivar was ejected from the start (ippon) by the Azeri Gasimov.
Cédric Revol, is the only one of the nine entered to be on the podium with his bronze medal in the under 60 kg category.
