Julian Bugier knows how to manage the vagaries of live, but he probably never thought that it would involve the surprise arrival of a pigeon in his news.
Julian Bugier is a professional, that’s indisputable. At the head of the 1 p.m. of France 2 since 2011, not to mention his many passages at 8 p.m., the TV presenter has learned to manage his composure in all circumstances. Emergencies, live interviews, presidential, Julian Bugier thought he had experienced all the situations involved in a television news program, but perhaps not the sudden appearance of a pigeon.
During the 1 p.m. broadcast on Tuesday June 7, Julian Bugier noticed the presence of an intruder. “Oh. Look there is a pigeon passing over our heads” launched the journalist live. Opposite him, columnist Dorothée Lachaud was trying to develop her subject of the rise in bank account maintenance fees. But the pigeon stole the show from the journalists.
Julian Bugier preferred to assume the incident. “He is the mystery guest of this newspaper”, joked the journalist who had trouble taking his eyes off the animal. His colleague, meanwhile, remained unmoved in front of the pigeon which made its nest on the set of France 2.

Except that this pigeon seemed to have found its new habitat. He lodged himself in the lighting of the 1 p.m. set and did not intend to move. “Look, he’s right above me”, continued Julian Bugier who wanted to share each step with viewers. “There you go, we wanted to show it to you because we were talking about it earlier. […] He’s watching me up there from a spotlight”explains the journalist, both calm and disturbed by the bird.
Difficult to pick up the thread with a pigeon above the head. However, the France 2 newspaper continued with this surprise guest. Julian Bugier has promised to give news of the animal from the next day’s newspaper, this Wednesday, June 8. “A friendly greeting to our surprise guest, the pigeon, of which we will of course give you news tomorrow“concluded Julian Bugier.
