Julian Reim: The hit newcomer raves about Florian Silbereisen

Julian Reim is Florian Silbereisen's guest on the TV show "Schlagerlagerfeuer" on August 14th. He thinks that of his fellow Schlager.

Julian Reim (24) is currently taking off with his singles "Grau" and "Euphorie". On August 14th, the 24-year-old will be a guest of Florian Silbereisen (39, "Das Album") in the show "Schlagerlagerfeuer – Die Strandparty 2020" (8:15 pm, MDR). The newcomer in the hit scene no longer wants to be considered just the son of Matthias Reim (62), but as an independent artist, as he told in an interview with the news agency spot on news.

He also talks about the relationship with his half-sister Marie Reim (20), who is also working on her music career, and reveals why Christin Stark (30), his father's partner, is like a best friend for him.

Florian Silbereisen awarded you your first prize last year. You were awarded "One of the Best" by MDR as Shooting Star of the Year. What did that mean to you?

Julian Reim: It was incredible. To be able to perform there alone in front of all the people was a dream come true. It was the first time I got an award. I was just speechless. The price is on my studio table and when I feel "down" I look at it and it motivates me to keep going.

Now you can appear again in a show by Florian Silbereisen. How much are you looking forward to it?

Reim: After the long break in the Corona period, I'm of course mega euphoric to be back on stage. I can hardly wait to be on a Silbereisen stage again.

What do you think of Florian Silbereisen? Is he a role model for you?

Rhyme: Florian is a great guy! He gave me a few tips before my appearance at "One of the Best". It gives us artists a good feeling behind and on stage and I am very grateful for that, especially as a newcomer. He knows what he's doing and is a role model for many in the hit scene.

Which star would you like to be on stage with?

Rhyme: I could imagine standing on stage with Giovanni Zarrella again. We sang together at the "Schlagerchance in Leipzig" and got along very well.

Not only you, your half-sister Marie is also taking off as a singer. How proud are you of your sister? Do you hear your music?

Rhyme: I'm incredibly proud of her and I think she makes it huge. There are such great songs on the album. I look forward to everything that is to come.

How close are you two? Do you often do something together?

Rhyme: We are very close. She also lives in Cologne, which is why we often do something together.

You describe your "stepmother" Christin Stark as your "best friend". How would you describe your relationship with each other?

Rhyme: We have a very good relationship. I've known her for seven years. She has become a mix of stepmom and best friend to me. I can't imagine life without her. I get on really well with her family!

Could you imagine recording a song as a family?

Reim: Since we are all very independent in the family and are very focused on our solo projects, I believe that there will be no family song in the near future. (laughs)

Was it easier for you to gain a foothold in the music industry because of your last name, or was it even more difficult because there were certain expectations?

Reim: Of course, the name "Reim" therefore brings with it a certain expectation, but I go my own way and have my own vision.

Why, like your father, did you want to gain a foothold in pop music?

Reim: I love to compose and write music, I don't care about the genre either. I combined German lyrics with electronic dance music, which turned out to be "modern hits". It has to be put in some drawer. (laughs)

How do you experience the time of the Corona crisis as a musician and newcomer?

Rhyme: All shows have been postponed or canceled until next year, that's very sad. I had hoped to perform "Euphoria" live on the stages in the summer. It's a tough time, so I wanted to put the people outside in a good mood with my new song.

What did you take your time for during the lockdown?

Rhyme: I had a lot of time to deal with myself. I spent a lot of time in the studio. But since I write my songs from experiences, emotions and experiences, it was not easy to find inspiration. I didn't want to compose the next best "Corona" song either. Although I have to say that a few funny song ideas have come up. Of course, I also played a few games and communicated with friends and family online.

At the age of 13 you were already on the stage of the show "Willkommen bei Carmen Nebel". Looking back, how was that moment for you?

Rhyme: It was crazy, I was only 13. I always wanted to be a musician and to feel this adrenaline was the sign for me that I want to do it professionally and want to go this way.

You are currently working on your debut album. Can you already reveal something about it?

Rhyme: I can say that it will be very personal, like my two singles. My songs reveal a lot about me if you can hear behind the facade. You will really get to know Julian Reim.

Will you go on tour soon when the corona crisis is over?

Rhyme: I already have a couple of shows in my sights for next year. Since we don't really know how the conditions will continue, everything is still up in the air. If something is fixed, I will of course disclose it on my social networks.
