Julien Cohen (Case concluded): the silence of Sophie Davant since her departure from the show

Emblematic buyer of Deal concluded since the launch of the show in 2017, Julien Cohen has decided to leave the program of France 2 *, broadcast from Monday to Friday at 4:15 p.m. Explanations.

Was there a trigger in your decision to leave Deal done ?

Julian Cohen: My need to undertake, yes. Six months ago, I had the idea of creating the first second-hand goods house, in Péronne, in the Somme. Since the success of its inauguration, the desire to leave has been running through my head, even if it is with great regret. It was an extraordinary adventure but devoting three days to the show is too much. And I don’t like to do things by halves.

How did the production react to this announcement?

I think some suspected it. The universe does not like a vacuum, my place will quickly be filled by other personalities who will hatch. The show is stronger than anything.

According to Pierre-Jean Chalencon, Deal done was “more of a waste of money than anything” to you. You confirm ?

No. I like him very much but he speaks without thinking. In fact, between what I buy – sometimes too expensive – and what I sell, yes, I am at a loss. Nevertheless, in the long term, the balance should certainly be rebalanced.

How much does it pay to be a buyer in Deal done ?

We are paid €1,000 per day of filming in fees. So you have to deduct the charges. Of the six broadcasts recorded per day, we receive approximately €85 net before taxes.

Was there any tension between you and the other buyers?

There are always some because of the financial stakes. As in a playground, affinities are created. We are not necessarily all friends outside of filming but we all have the same desire to make a good show.

Did Sophie Davant send you a message?

So far, I haven’t received one – or else I haven’t seen it. I don’t take offense. She is very busy.

*It will nevertheless remain on the air until mid-March.
