Gone are the days of recklessness for Julien Courbet : the respite from the holidays will have been short-lived, when two gigantic fires are ravaging the Girondewhere he is with his family. Live on RTL, animator witnessed the vigor of the flamesjust like in video on his Instagram account. By telephone on the program “listeners have the floor”, Julien Courbet described the situation he was witnessing, helpless.
Julien Courbet “We are terrified by what is happening”
Invited to explain to listeners what was happening before his eyes, Monday, July 18, he explained that he was awakened by the smell of smoke, while he was with his family, geographically far from the place of the fire. “We are terrified by what is happening” he said in the introduction, “The wind has changed. Before, we saw a cloud of smoke, but which left on the other side. Today, all the smoke is coming back because the wind has changed to east wind. There, we are in the mist. If you go to Cap-Ferret, you no longer see Arcachon, whereas you usually see it very easily.” he described. “What woke me up this morning was that I thought there was fire around my house. There is a smell of smoke that has entered all of Cap-Ferret. So today, we’re going to have to be super vigilant because with the 40 degrees and the humidity, the slightest cigarette butt and it goes up in flames on all sides”
Very concerned, he added “You can’t stay outside. It tingles your eyes, and yet, we are very far away. There is the whole Basin to cross. But it’s starting to tingle and we’re like in the fog“On his Instagram account, he paid tribute to the firefighters, who fight to control two fire-monsters, one having started in Landiras and the other in La Teste-de-Buch having already ravaged 17,000 hectares of forest.
