Julien Morlot, killed by a boat at Le Bourget: photos from the camera that filmed him a few minutes before the tragedy: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

Very difficult images to watch for Michel, Bernadette and Lucie Morlot. Monday December 11, 2023, the father, mother and sister of Julien Morlot went to the set ofCall for witnesses, the M6 show dedicated to unsolved cases. Four years earlier, on September 9, 2019, they lost a loved one in terrible circumstances. Julien, 31, died after being brutally hit by a boat on Lake Bourget, in Aix-les-Bains. The driver fled and could never be identified. Despite a few leads, notably a suspicious telephone call with the Lac du Bourget captaincy, justice has classified this file “unknown author” and stopped the investigations. During Julien Courbet’s show, the young man’s relatives returned to this tragic accident which changed their lives forever, in the hope that someone with the slightest information on the case would come forward.

According to video surveillance, Julien Morlot was wearing the regulatory safety buoy

Julien Morlot was a seasoned swimmer, passionate about long-distance swimming. As his father explains, he was going “3 or 4 times a week” at Lac du Bourget, near which he had moved to follow training in baking. “He knows the regulations, and like every time he goes into the water, he puts on his swimming cap to be more recognizable”indicates in turn the family lawyer. And above all he puts a regulatory buoy with a cord, adds Me Jean-Christophe Basson-Larbi. Its cap is fluorescent, and the buoy is red, which allows boats to see swimmers from a distance. Video surveillance images also prove that Julien Morlot portrayed these regulatory elements well on the day of his death. Indeed, at 2:25 p.m., a restaurant camera films the athlete equipping himself on the shore. Despite the poor quality of the image, we can clearly see him inflating his safety buoy and putting on his swimming cap. “We see him enter the water, we see him start to swim, and we see him disappear into the water. These are the last images of himcomments his father, Michel Morlot, his voice broken by the emotion still very strong.

For almost 40 minutes, Julien Morlot swims in complete tranquility. At 3:08 p.m., less than 500 meters from him, a woman drives a boat which tows her husband on a wakeboard. He falls into the water when another boat approaches them at high speed. The boater on board asks if everything is okay, then leaves. But barely a minute later, the couple saw Julien Morlot’s famous red buoy and approached. They then discovered the body of the young man, whose back had been cut with the propeller of a boat.. The autopsy later showed that the swimmer died instantly. Since then, those close to Julien Morlot have done everything to establish the truth and bring the culprit to justice. “We have identified a suspicious boat” And “maybe even a suspect”also affirms Me Jean-Christophe Basson-Larbi to the Parisianwithout further explanation.
