Jumble of rules – what is still open despite the lockdown

It is not always clear where the Viennese can go now. An overview of the clutter of rules.

At Rathausplatz you can soon turn on the ice again, but the Christkindlmarkt had to close. Indoor pools have opened for schools and soon also for vaccinations, but not for clubs. The lockdown measures are not entirely understandable. We try to bring clarity to the chaos of rules. Sports and leisure: Golf and tennis courts may continue to be used provided the two-meter distance is observed. Football pitches, however, had to close completely. Sports halls are only open to top athletes, popular sports clubs are idle. And only school classes and soon also those willing to be vaccinated are allowed into the indoor pool, as vaccination roads are currently being built there. Clubs, on the other hand, have to stay dry. Ice skating is also allowed in lockdown. Professional musicians are still allowed to rehearse, but music clubs are not. Religious events: Church services can also continue to be celebrated. Schools, kindergartens and universities: Classes continue to take place in schools, and kindergartens also remain open. Universities, on the other hand, can decide for themselves whether classroom or distance teaching takes place. Trade and services: Pharmacies and drug stores are still open. Grocery stores, including grocery stores, are also exempt from the closure. The same applies to tobacconists, opticians and cell phone shops. Banks and post offices will also remain accessible, as will car and bicycle workshops and magistrates. In addition, shops that offer advice services for vaccinated and recovered customers, such as florists or photo studios, are allowed to open. Gastronomy: Bars are only allowed to open for picking up food and non-alcoholic drinks. In contrast to the previous lockdown, alcoholic beverages such as punch may only be sold in commercially available sealed containers.
