In May series there is a lot to offer: New superheroes, the incarnate devil and new things from the far, far distant “Star Wars” galaxy.

New superheroes, screwed up “Star Wars” clones and the incarnate devil: Thanks to “Jupiter’s Legacy”, “Star Wars: The Bad Batch” and “Lucifer” there is a lot going on in May. But these are by no means the only series on the relevant streaming platforms or on free TV that will be entertaining in the coming weeks.

Free TV

They are the yellow long-running hits, also on German television: “The Simpsons”. From May 3, after a one-month break, the continuation of the 32nd season around the iconic residents of Springfield can be seen on German free TV. From 9:15 p.m., Homer and co. Every Monday on ProSieben will cause lots of laughs.

In October 2020 the second season of Klaas Heufer-Umlaufs (37) series “Check Check” celebrated its premiere on Joyn, from May 19 the new nine episodes of the comedy will also be available on free TV (from 10:15 pm in double episodes ) to see. Jan Rothe (Heufer-Umlauf) has to fight his way through all kinds of absurd situations again as a security employee at Simmering Airport.

There will also be new series feed from the “Star Wars” universe in May. With “The Bad Batch”, an animation series dedicated to the clone unit 99 will start on May 4th – matching the international “Star Wars” day. Due to their mutations, they are different from the other clones and thus part of the “damage batch”. The series builds on the animated series “The Clone Wars”.

In terms of music, on the other hand, the series with the quirky name “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series”. From May 14, all fans of the series or the film series will be able to enjoy the episodes of season two. In contrast to the first, it will include two more episodes and thus come along at twelve and revolve around the staging of a “Beauty and the Beast” performance.

Netflix

It’s going to be epochal on Netflix when the series “Jupiter’s Legacy” goes into its first season on May 7th. In it, Josh Duhamel (48) and Leslie Bibb (46) slip into the roles of the world’s first superheroes, who, after decades of heroism, pass on the difficult inheritance to their children. But they have their dear problems with the old-fashioned approach of their parents and sometimes also quarrel with their fate of having to be in the service of humanity. At first glance, “Jupiter’s Legacy” looks like the more classic superhero version of the Netflix hit “The Boys”.

From May 19th, however, the question will be again: “Who murdered Sara?” The second season of the Mexican hit series starts only a short time after Netflix released the first on March 24, 2021. In it, Sara’s brother Álex Guzmán (Manolo Cardona, 44) asks the eponymous question after spending 18 years innocently in prison. Especially in the USA, the series blossomed into a gigantic hit.

Amazon Prime Video

The Amazon Original “Panic” starts on May 28th. In the teenage series, which is somewhat reminiscent of “Battle Royale” in terms of its premise, 47 students face a dangerous game. Only one of them can get the prize money and dream of a carefree life. This year the winnings are higher than ever – but so is the risk. The series is based on the bestseller of the same name by Lauren Oliver (38).

It continues a day later with the Lord of Hell. From May 29, the second part of the fifth season “Lucifer” will be available in this country on Amazon Prime Video. At the end of season four, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis, 42) voluntarily returned to Hell and his throne. But he left Detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German, 42) behind. “I’m exactly where I belong. She can handle it without me,” says the devil of the new situation. After the sixth season it should be over with the incarnate.

Sky

Oscar-winning is the crime series “Mare of Easttown”. In her, Kate Winslet (45) as a police officer Mare Sheehan in her hometown, a sleepy town in Pennsylvania, is supposed to solve a year-old case. In doing so, she is increasingly confronted with her own demons. “Mare of Easttown” can be seen in double episodes from May 21st on Sky and on demand at Sky Ticket.

Finally, thanks to “Intergalactic”, it is still spaced. The plot: The young police officer and pilot Ash Harper (Savannah Steyn) is banished to a remote prison colony after she was falsely convicted of treason. But on the way there, Ash’s fellow prisoners stage a mutiny and take control of their prisoner transport ship. After the crew’s death, Mafia leader Tula Quik (Sharon Duncan-Brewster) wants to reach the free world with her gang – and Ash is the only female pilot who can get her there. “Intergalactic” is coming to Sky on May 6th.
